In 1979, Gibson produced a very small batch of block inlay Flying V’s. The number of guitars is estimated to be fewer than 50 although a production number is not available. All guitars were finished white. A whole bacth of 25 instruments was sold to a single shop in Cleveland Ohio.
Look, the odds of a 1979 Gibson Flying V turning up for sale today are about zero. The closest we will ever get to owning one is with this once-in-a-lifetime Limited Edition guitar. But considering the fact that Gibson is only building 50 of them, this is guaranteed to be a precious commodity somewhere down the road. Even you are lucky enough to find one, the price will be sky-high. Few people can afford it.
